According to Bloomberg, the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 will feature a new U2 chip from the company, which brings an upgraded version of Apple’s ultra-wideband technology aimed at improving the existing ‘Find My’ capabilities. Rumors suggest that this ultra-wideband chip will also make its way into the iPhone 15.

Rumors About Apple Watch Series 9 Chips
Previous rumors have hinted that the upcoming watches will be powered by the S9 chip, promising “significant speed improvements.” Compared to the S8 chip, it’s reported to be 20% faster and more power-efficient. This new chip might also bring dual-band GPS support and compatibility with 5G networks.
Since Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 6 three years ago, the tech giant has continued to use the same processor for all models, including the Apple Watch Series 8 and the initial Apple Watch Ultra iteration.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is also in the process of developing the 10th iteration of its smartwatch with a significant visual overhaul and a new magnet-based strap system. The Apple Watch X is scheduled for launch in 2024 or 2025 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the smartwatch series.
